Meet Granny Gertrude

Meet Granny Gertrude! Granny is an incredibly affectionate, sweet, and sassy senior girl who came to ARF when her owner passed away. She has had quite the journey battling a severe UTI, working on gaining weight, and finding happiness in her world again. We lovingly call her "roomba" as she has a sweet little shuffle walk she uses to explore all over. Granny has even started to play again with kicker and wand toys! She loves to talk with the softest meows but has no problem yelling if she isn't happy about something. She will demand attention with the softest boops of her paw, lay her head across your arms, or give gentle kisses. Granny is looking for a very special home that will be happy to accommodate her special needs. As part of her health journey, Granny went all the way to the vet school at University of Wisconsin. There she was diagnosed with a condition called Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC). FIC is manageable but can be triggered by stress. Due to this, Granny needs a home that is calm, consistent, and where she will be the only pet. It would be preferred to have someone home with her on a regular basis such as someone who is retired or works from home. She is on a special bladder diet she will need to continue with and will require medication to manage her symptoms. Granny is a wonderful lap cat who's love is worth well beyond what her new home will need to give. She is front paw declawed, extremely gentle, and might do well with a senior human! If you would like to learn more about Granny, her foster mom would love to tell you! Apply today!

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
