Meet Potato

Potato (Poe for short) is a 3 month old female Lhasa Apso who weighs in at 5.8 pounds. This pup's adoption fee is $850. If you are still interested, please read more below.

Here is a bit about Potato:

She is a very sweet girl - cuddly, loves attention & will follow her favorite person wherever they go. She loves to play and wants to be around you 100% of the time!

She is still adjusting to things that scare her. Potato can get overwhelmed if there are a lot of people/chaos. She will do best in a quieter home with a couple or a family with children over 12 years old who want a companion animal who loves to just be by your side. If there is another dog in the home that she could play with that would be ideal - she LOVES other dogs! But, she would also be fine on her own as well. She has met a few cats and really liked them so other animals in the home would not be a problem for her.

Potato’s foster has worked with her on crate training and she is doing well – she doesn’t mind going in her crate now. Her potty training is going well though she still has a few small accidents inside. She has overcome her fear of outside. She can go on walks now & isn’t afraid of the backyard anymore. Having another dog around has definitely helped since she looks to her canine companion for guidance on what not to be afraid of.

If Potato sounds like a good fit for you, fill out an application and come meet her!

This pup is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and spayed. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.

Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting this pup fill out an online application today!  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.  ARF is an all volunteer organization.  Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved.  Thank you for your patience!

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
