Meet Aspen

I’m Aspen and I’m a confident and beautiful little explorer who would be a great addition to any kitty home!

I’m a little globetrotter who is always the first of my litter to try anything new! I am the first to explore new rooms, try new toys, and eat new foods! I’m very confident exploring new places and meeting new cats, and even though I still think new people can be a bit scary, if you let me approach you I am very curious indeed! I will sneak in cuddles and warmth while I get to know you. I love to try and catch feather toys flying through the air as well as chase worm toys and run off with springs in my mouth. I have no problem running around tiring myself out, and when it comes time for food I can be very vocal! When it’s time for naps I’ll find a snuggly blanket to get warm in, ideally in a little me-sized hole.

Because I’m a social girl, my new home must have at least one other cat. I’d be happy to go home with one of my siblings (Hazel, Silverbell, Walnut, or Hickory), and I’d be great for helping them come out of their shell! Otherwise a friendly and confident cat that’s used to your routine will do great as well! I’m a gentle and sweet girl who rarely scratches as long as you don’t catch me by surprise, so I’d be okay around children who can respect my boundaries. I spent the first couple months of my life outside, so I’d prefer a home with people who will be patient while I get used to being a house cat. I’d prefer a home with no dogs, but I’d probably get along with a calm dog that gives me space. My ideal home has people around most of the time, but I’ll be content with kitty company when my people aren’t home.

We encourage you to consider adopting kittens in pairs! There are several reasons why Aspen would do good with a friend, including:

-Two kittens keep each other entertained - they will play and get all their energy out on each other in time for snuggles with you!

-Having two kittens to play with each other prevents "I'm lonely and bored" behavioral issues.

-Watching two kittens wrestle is quite possibly the cutest thing you will ever see.

-The kittens will teach each other "how to cat" and learn to be more social with humans and people.

-You'll save two lives instead of one!

Aspen is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, and litter box trained. Aspen’s adoption fee is $165.  Please note A.R.F. does not approve applications for any kitten under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
