Meet Castaway

Castaway is an approximately 1-year-old adult male domestic shorthair. We don’t know his history, as he was unfortunately dumped in a box at the A.R.F. Wheaton office one Saturday morning. Castaway may take some time to get to know new people and places, but once he’s comfortable he loves to explore his surroundings and can barely be confined to a space. He loves playing with his cat dancer and chasing flies. He can be very talkative, especially when he wants attention. Castaway is not really a lap cat but when he lays down next to you, he is very fond of head, chin, and cheek scratches. He really can be very affectionate. He doesn’t like being petted much on his back and if he’s annoyed with you he may try to run away or lightly nip you, but he has never lashed out. Castaway can be a bit skittish around loud or unusual sounds. He is an indoor cat and has no issues with using his litter box. If you would like an affectionate, smart, and active cat, Castaway is perfect for you.  He has not been tested with other cats or dogs.  Likely best as an only cat in the household where he can absorb all of the love and attention himself.

Castaway is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained.

Castaway’s adoption fee is $135.  If you are interested in meeting Castaway, please fill out our Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
